Okay I know this blog is supposed to be about fanfiction and here I am talking about a tv show, but I can’t help it. After being sick in bed for the past few days, last night’s episode of NCIS was the best thing to happen to me so far this week.

It was like someone out there has been reading all of our Gibbs/Tony father/son NCIS fanfiction and put all the stuff we love into an episode of the show. In my review on my other blog, I talked about all the scenes I liked but left out the connection they had to fanfiction. After all, not all fans of the show read (or even appreciate) fanfic. So that’s why I just had to do a post up here as well.

So many scenes in last night’s episode have appeared in fanfiction – Tony confronting his father about not approving of his decision to become a cop, while understanding how hard it must’ve been for the man after losing his wife and being stuck with an 8yr old. Gibbs confronting Tony’s father about not being there for his son, even when he was dying of the plague 4 yrs ago. Tony and Gibbs hanging out at Gibbs’ house, having a heart to heart conversation over beer and steak.

After reading how these scenes might possibly play out, done by some amazing authors, was nothing of course compared to seeing it played out on screen. Michael Weatherly, Mark Harmon and of course Robert Wagner brought them all to life in a way that was more than I could’ve ever hoped.

As discussed in my earlier post, fanfiction is a place where we get to read and write about the things we don’t see on the show, the added scenes that we know we’ll probably never get to see. There are only so many things that can be done on tv, only so much time that can be spent with each character.

So to see so many great moments last night, I was totally floored and “Flesh and Blood” is now up there as one of my favorite episodes of NCIS of all time.
