Joshua Jackson, currently starring in the Fox hit series Fringe, was in San Diego a few weeks ago for a big convention. No it wasn’t Comic-Con 2010, it was “Pacey-Con”, where he celebrated all things Dawson’s Creek and even read some Pacey fanfiction.

A star of a hit tv series reading his own fanfiction? Sign me up! Maybe someday this means we’ll see Jensen Ackles or Jared Padalecki reading some Supernatural fanfiction or Michael Weatherly giving us a reading of some NCIS fanfiction…..

What? A girl can dream, can’t she?

Until then, enjoy this video from Funny Or Die.

I’m absolutely tantalized by this concept! I’m having visions of William Shatner trying to keep a straight face reading Denny Crane fanfic! Or better yet, him and James Spader doing the voices! The possibilities are mind blowing!

You have to give Jackson his props, I’m not sure *I* could read fanfic aloud to a group of people! LOL

I know, right? My poor little head wants to explode with this idea.

Yes he was pretty brave, then again it’s not like he was reading his own fanfic. That’s something that I couldn’t even do at a convention when I attended a fanfic panel. We got ten minutes to write out something super fast and I was aghast when I realized we were all to read our work out loud to the group so that we could all share opinions. I turned about ten shades of red and finally one of the other girls offered to read it for me.

Of course, this was a few years ago, right after I’d written my first fic. Who knows? Maybe I’d be braver now… ;)

Joshua is really great, a total geek who likes to make fun of himself. In Jensen’s words, he’s “a guys’ guy”. I don’t know if we’ll ever see Jensen or Jared reading fanfiction, but at least Samantha Ferris has confessed she had (a very romantic one pairing Ellen with Dean, who wouldn’t read it if we were on her shoes?). And at the Barcelona Rising Con I had the chance to ask Jared about the topic and he said it would be pretty interesting. Let me copy the paragraph where I explained his answer in my LJ, I’m just too lazy to write it again:

“Jared was totally cool with the question and said that yes, he knew, and he had actually read a few. That he didn’t want to read more though, until the show ended, because if he did, the way his mind worked he would sort of store it into his mental log and performed as if those events had occurred. That is (his example), if he read a fic about how Dean stole his date to the prom or whatever, the next scene he would shoot with Jensen, he would be like glaring at him in a sort of “you stole my girlfriend” way. But that he would love to read some when SPN ended, because that would be cool to imagine more stories happening.”

    A girl can dream!

Thanks for this awesome blog, I just subscribed to it (thanks Amanda for guiding me to it!). You rock, Moki!

Hi Onari and thanks for that great excerpt from your LJ. So cool that you asked Jared about fanfic, something I haven’t been brave enough to do yet. LOL. I loved his response and could totally see that happening to an actor. Heck it happens to me just as a viewer, when fic I read gets stuck in my head and suddenly the episodes of a show seem “AU” to me.

So glad you like the blog! :)
